About the event
Welcome to our Horde Chess Event!
What is Horde Chess? It’s a variant of Chess where one side has 36 pawns and the other a full set of pieces!
Horde Chess is a great way to hone in on 2 very important principles in chess - the importance of pawns and piece safety. Players will have to think carefully as they navigate their pieces around the board to prevent the pawns from rushing towards them or to find a way to eliminate all of the pawns in a quick and simple way!
At this event, we’ll:
✅ Teach how to play Horde Chess and explain the rules
✅ Practice games to get the hang of it
✅ Run a fun tournament with medals and a trophy for top players
✅ Celebrate with pizza at the end!
Perfect for chess students who want a fun twist of chess with some added bonus of creativity. (This is a drop-off event — no space for parents to stay.)
🕛 Check-in: 11:45–12:00 PM
